Continuity Planning
The day-to-day operation of most businesses depends on a series of routine procedures and systems. Business Continuity Planning (BCP) is a process that minimizes disruption to a business in the event that one or more time-critical processes or supporting resources are temporarily interrupted as a result of a natural disaster, an accident, or act of terrorism. The definition of time-critical process varies from one business to another depending on the extent to which processes and support resources are relied upon to achieve an organization’s business objectives. Support resources usually include information technology (IT), voice and data communications/ infrastructure, facilities, third party partners, and other primary activities of key business processes, functions, or departments (departments directly involved in the business of the organization).
